When moving subdisks of volumes or logs such as DCM or DCO from a harddisk to another harddisk, the Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA) GUI can be used to simply move them without causing a down time to the users or applications using the volume.
How To
1. Launch VEA GUI and connect to the host where the volumes are mounted.
2. Click on the diskgroup that hosts the volume/s.
3. Click on the Disk View tab on the right hand side.
4. Ensure the target harddisk has sufficient free space.
5. Click and drag the subdisk of the volume/plex to be moved to the target harddisk.
6. SFW will start moving the subdisk by mirroing the subdisk on the target harddisk. Once the mirror is finished, the source subdisk will be deleted.
7. You will now be left with the subdisk on the target harddisk.
Note: If you are using SQL or any other database related application, we recommend you to stop the application first to ensure that there are no changes made to the volume during the move. This will reduce any potential data corruption after the move.
Note: User can also use vxsd CLI to move the subdisk from one disk to another.
