Problem: A reservation is placed on a LUN and then cleared, which results in a return value of 16 in a VCS cluster.
Cause
The issue occurs as EMC PowerPath fails to handle the status of a clear reservation SCSI command correctly.
Resolution
This issue is addressed in the following EMC PowerPath HotFix.
Solution: EMC PowerPath 5.3 HF 01 for AIX
This hotfix includes the following fix:
- Clearing a reservation on a LUN in a VCS cluster results in clearing the reservation but throws an error return 16 where 0 is expected. This results in not being able to import a disk group.
