The /lost+found directory, is created, if required, during an fsck operation (file system check). If i-node 3 is not available, another i-node is allocated and assigned. VxFS does not require the lost+found directory to have any particular inode number
Issue/Introduction
On a VxFS file system, i-node 3, is typically assigned to the /lost+found directory, found under the / (root) directory. However, occasionally, i-node 3 might be allocated to a regular file or directory type i-node, other than /lost+found.
