You are getting trace files that show:

WARNING:Could not set the asynch I/O limit to 512 for SQL direct I/O. It

is set to 200

Cause

 

Cause:

Asynchronous I/O fails at times due to an insufficient number of kernel

resources leading to warnings of the form:

WARNING:Oracle process running out of OS kernel I/O resources

Resolution

 

The problem is due to an Oracle bug:

The solution was identified through a number of Oracle bugs and some "fixes"

were incomplete. Oracle bug Bug 8868694

Issue/Introduction

Oracle detects I/O delays which cause the database to hang. No I/O issues seen at the OS level.
