Description

Error Message

V-40-49408-1 An unexpected error occured

Cause

As part of the import process, Storage Foundation runs a SCSI reservation status check on the devices configured in a disk group. As soon as one iSCSI device is missing, this call is not returned by the iSCSI driver.

Resolution

An update is available for the iSCSI driver here:

Issue/Introduction

In cluster configurations mirroring data between storage arrays, it can be necessary to import a disk group even when members of the disk group are reported as "Missing Disk". If only half or less than half of the members are present, Storage Foundation by default prevents the import and reports V-76-58645-585: Failed to reserve a majority of disks in cluster dynamic disk group. If your cluster dynamic disk group is using iSCSI, the import of a degraded disk group can even completely "hang". This ends after five minutes reporting error "An unexpected error occured" without having imported the disk group.
