Description

Error Message

No error message could be seen in VCS engine log unless other resources dependent on the failed services are configured.

Some of the services would show 'disabled' when running svcs command after logging to the local zone.

# svcs -a | grep ftp
disabled       15:22:52 svc:/network/ftp:default
#

Cause

When the Zone agent brings a zone resource online, the Zone agent uses the BootState attribute value. As a result, the zone may not start some of the system services and the dependent applications may fail to start.

This issue is tracked via Symantec etrack incident e2213725 (startup issues with Milestone configuration in the Zone agent BootState Variable).

.

Resolution

Veritas has modified the Zone agent to not use the BootState attribute during a zone boot operation and check for the BootState during a monitor operation.

The fix for VCS 5.1SP1 is available in VCS 5.1SP1RP1 which can be downloaded from the Veritas Operation Readiness Tools website.
