Unable to login to the Veritas Operations Management console after an upgrade from 3.0 to 3.1 RP1

Resolution

To resolve the issue, perform one of the two actions below:

  • Clear the browser cache and restart the browser.

If the above action does not resolve the issue:

  1. Backup and then delete the work directory. On Windows 2003 this is located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Symantec\VRTS\sfmcs\sm
  2. Restart the Web Console service: Veritas Operations Manager Service [sfmgui] or reboot the server where the VOM CMS is installed.

Note: The work directory is created by Tomcat to store the intermediate compiled JSP class files.

Upgrade to VOM CMS 3.1 RP1

Issue/Introduction

After a successful upgrade of the Central Management Server (CMS) from Veritas Operations Manager (VOM) 3.0 to VOM 3.1 RP1, log in to the CMS no longer works. After entering the username, password, selecting the appropriate Domain and clicking the Login button, no errors are reported and the same page is login page is shown again.
