The following error will be logged to the Windows Event Application log:

Description:
The description for Event ID 90 from source VERITAS Enterprise Administrator Service cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
 

Cause

This error appears because the Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA) service key is missing from the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Application\Veritas Enterprise Administrator Service 

Resolution

To resolve this issue, create the VEA service registry key with the values containing the correct information on all problem nodes as shown in Figure 1.

  1. Create the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\eventlog\Application\Veritas Enterprise Administrator Service
     
  2. Add a string named "EventMessageFile", with the value pointing to:
    C:\Program Files\Veritas\Veritas Object Bus\bin\msgCatalog.dll
     
  3. Reboot the node.


WARNING: Incorrect use of the Windows Registry Editor can have disastrous results on a server operating system. Great care should be taken when making changes to a Windows Registry. Registry modifications should only be carried out by persons experienced in the use of the Registry.

 

Applies To

This issue can be manifest during a upgrade from the following SFW and SFWHA versions to SFW 6.0 and SFW-HA 6.0. 

  • SFW-HA 5.x upgraded to SFW-HA 6.0
  • SFW 5.x upgrade to SFW 6.0

 

Issue/Introduction

After upgrading to Storage Foundation for Windows HA 6.0 (SFW-HA) or Storage Foundation for Windows 6.0 (SFW), the VEA service logs an Event ID: 90 in the Windows Application event viewer.
