SFW dynamic cluster disk groups use SCSI-2 reservations to ensure that a cluster disk group is accessible by only one node in the cluster at a time. This means that when a cluster disk group is imported on a node, the cluster disk group will not be visible from any other node through the VEA or from the command line utility
vxdg list . The individual disks that make the cluster disk group are visible in the VEA and the command line utility
vxdisk list from other nodes.
Figure 1 shows a cluster disk group called CDG imported on a system called HANT04. The dynamic cluster disk group contains one disk, Harddisk13.
Figure 1
Figure 2 shows the same cluster disk group imported on a system called HANT03.
Figure 2
When the dynamic cluster disk group CDG is imported on HANT03, the cluster disk group is no longer visible in the VEA in the list of disk groups available to HANT04. The disk contained within CDG (Harddisk13) is shown as
Type: Unknown with a status of
Online (Figure 3), because a SCSI-2 reservation is held on the disk by the node HANT03.
Figure 3
After HANT04 is restarted, the disks have been renumbered by the operating system and Harddisk13 now represents a different disk (Figure 4). The disk contained within the CDG cluster disk group is no longer visible to the system because the history of the disks accessible to the node is lost when the system is restarted.

Issue/Introduction
When a VERITAS Storage Foundation (tm) for Windows (SFW) dynamic cluster disk group is imported on one node, the dynamic cluster disk group cannot be seen on other nodes in the cluster through the VERITAS Enterprise Administrator (VEA). When the dynamic cluster disk group is deported on all nodes in the cluster, the disk group is visible to all nodes in the VEA.
