Error Message
There are no error messages reported however the file system mount process takes a very long time (up to hours) to complete and the file system is not accessible during the time.
Cause
This is a VxFS design limitation.
Resolution
Currently there is no solution or workaround for the issue. Veritas recommends that the conversion is performed when directories are slightly or not populated.
Issue/Introduction
If the directories are huge, conversion between partitioned directories and regular directories or vice versa needs some time. If you enable the feature when the root directory already contains a large number of files, the conversion can occur at file system mount time, and can cause the mount to take a long time.
