To ensure that a hardware configuration is supported with Storage Foundation for Windows (SFW) or Storage Foundation HA for Windows (SFW-HA), the following items should be reviewed:

1. Disk array, host bus adapter (HBA) and switch models that are being used must be listed in the Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) as being supported.

2. Driver and firmware versions that are being used must be equal to, or higher, than the versions that are listed on the HCL.

3. Third-party multipathing (if present) must be the exact version version listed on the HCL.
If the Device/family column in a table includes a third party multipathing qualifier (i.e. with PowerPath, with Subsystem Device Driver, with HDLM, or with DS
Storage Manager
), it means the storage array supports third party multipathing. If a row does not include a third party Multipathing qualifier, third party multipathing is
not supported on that storage array.

Note: Both the disk array and the HBA model must support the driver version that is being used in order for the configuration to be considered supported.

To verify that the configuration is listed as supported by the HCL, perform the following steps:

1. Read the material at the beginning of the Disk Arrays section for details about requirements for Veritas support of Disk Arrays.
2. Use the Device Family Membership section to find your exact Array Model and the associated Device Family. (Figure 1)
3. Then from the Device/Family column in the Disk Arrays table (Figure 2), find your device family.
4. Check each field in the row that corresponds with the Device/Family (Figure 2).
5. Check any Device Family footnotes, listed below the table (Figure 2), regarding additional information and/or requirements for compatibility.
6. Check the Host Bus Adapters section for details regarding HBA compatibility.
7. Check the Switches section for details regarding Switch compatibity.
