Cause

The mal-formed packet is initially handled correctly and discarded, but a cleanup procedure can cause a heap corruption crash in the VxSvc process.

Issue/Introduction

If the Storage Foundation For Windows Volume Replicator (VVR) option is installed, Veritas Enterprise Administrator Service (VxSvc) can terminate unexpectedly if the Vras module receives an unexpectedly large packet. This can happen even if no Replicated Data Sets are configured or are online on the node at the time.
