The Volume Manager (VxVM) component has a kernel compatibility issue with the RHEL 6.6 update
Veritas have released a combined patch SFHA 6.0.5.200 to resolve this issue and support RHEL 6.6 This combined patch includes patches for VxVM, ASL and VxFS components.
Patch SFHA 6.0.5.200 requires SFHA 6.0.5 (Maintenance Release) to be installed. Patch installation instructions are contained in the patch README file
Install/Upgrade options:
Upgrading to RHEL 6.6 with existing SFHA 6.0.5 installation
If upgrading to RHEL 6.6 from prior RHEL 6 updates, install patch SFHA 6.0.5.200 prior to the RHEL 6.6 upgrade. If you have already upgraded to RHEL 6.6, then install the SFHA 6.0.5.200 patch
Upgrading to RHEL 6.6 with existing SFHA 6.0.1, 6.0.2 or 6.0.3 installation
If you are currently running SFHA 6.0.1, 6.0.2 or 6.0.3 then you need to install SFHA 6.0.5 as a prerequisite for this patch. You can upgrade to SFHA 6.0.5+SFHA 6.0.5.200 in a traditional multi-step approach or in a single step using the Install Bundles feature. Install bundles remove the requirement to install software and patches in a serial fashion. Below is an example command of how to an upgrade to SFHA 6.0.5+SFHA 6.0.5.200 in a single step:
/
Follow the on-screen instruction to complete the installation and configuration
New Installation of SFHA
If SFHA is being installed for the first time, the 6.0.1 or 6.0.2 base software must be installed, along with SFHA 6.0.5 and the SFHA 6.0.5.200 patch.
This can be done using the traditional multi-step approach or in a single step using the Install Bundles feature. Install bundles remove the requirement to install software and patches in a serial fashion. Below is an example command of how to initiate a new installation of SFHA 6.0.1+SFHA 6.0.5+SFHA6.0.5.100 in a single step:
/
Follow the on-screen instruction to complete the installation and configuration
NOTE : Previously a combined patch (SFHA 6.0.5.100) was available with the VxVM & ASL patches. This previous combined patch did not include the VxFS patch that fixes a unmount issue with inotify APIs on RHEL6.6
