The Volume Manager component (VxVM) and Low Latency Transport (LLT) components have incompatibility issues with the RHEL 6.6. kernel update.
Veritas have released a combined patch SFHA 6.1.1.200 to resolve this issue and support RHEL 6.6. This combined patch includes patches for VxVM, ASL, LLT and VxFS components.
Patch SFHA 6.1.1.200 requires SFHA 6.1.1 (Maintenance Release) to be installed. Patch installation instructions are contained in the patch README.
Install/Upgrade options for SFHA 6.1.1.200:
Upgrading to RHEL 6.6 with existing 6.1.1 installation
If upgrading to RHEL 6.6 from prior RHEL 6 updates, install SFHA 6.1.1.200 prior to the RHEL 6.6 upgrade. If you have already upgraded to RHEL 6.6, then install the SFHA 6.1.1.200 patch
Upgrading to RHEL 6.6 with existing 6.1 installation
If you are currently running SFHA 6.1, you will have to install SFHA 6.1.1 as a prerequisite for this patch.
You can install SFHA 6.1.1 and the SFHA 6.1.1.200 in a traditional multi-step approach or in a single step using the Install Bundles feature. Install bundles remove the requirement to install software and patches in a serial fashion. Below is an example command of how to initiate an installation of SFHA6.1.1 + SFHA 6.1.1.200 in a single step:
/
Follow the on-screen instruction to complete the installation and configuration
New Installation of SFHA on RHEL 6.6
If SFHA is being installed for the first time, the SFHA 6.1 base software, SFHA 6.1.1 and SFHA 6.1.1.200 patch can be installed using the Install Bundles feature. Install bundles remove the requirement to install software and patches in a serial fashion. Below is an example command of how to initiate a new installation of SFHA 6.1+SFHA 6.1.1+SFHA6.1.1.200:
/<6.1.1MR_directory>/installmr -hotfix_path /
Follow the on-screen instruction to complete the installation and configuration
For more information on the 6.1 Install Bundles feature, see the Veritas Storage Foundation and High Availability 6.1 Installation Guide for your product and the video: Using Install Bundles to Simplify Install/Upgrade
NOTE : Previously a combined patch (SFHA 6.1.1.100) was available with VxVM, ASL and LLT patches. This combined patch did not include the VxFS patch that fixes a unmount issue with inotify APIs on RHEL6.6
NOTE : An updated patch for the Volume Manager (VxVM) component is available in the form of a private hot fix (vm-rhel6_x86_64-6.1.1.101). This updated patch fixes the issues below. Veritas recommend this VxVM hot fix level (or later) to be used in RHEL 6.6 deployments. Contact Veritas Technical support to obtain this patch.
