Sep 29 14:28:31 vxvm:vxconfigd:         Disk for disk group not found

Cause

Starting from VxVM(Veritas Volume Manager) 6.1, by default all non-detached disks within a disk group should be accessible to the system so that the disk group can be successfully imported.

It impacts system boot with alternative encapsulated boot disk when original encapsulated boot disk is unavailable.

Resolution

There is no workaround. Code changes have been made to skip such check when trying to import rootdg.

6.2 addressed this and would release in Dec 2014.

If you need a private hotfix for 6.1, plase contact Veritas Techniccal Support.

When you encountered this issue, and became unbootable, please refer 000041742.

Applies To

VxVM 6.1

Issue/Introduction

After mirroring encapsulated root disk, rootdg fails to import if any disk in the disk group becomes unavailable.
It causes system becoming unbootable if /usr is mounted on a separate disk and is also encapsulated.
