Error Message
fallocate(2) system call or fallocate(1) program fail.
Cause
fallocate(2) is not supported in prevoius versions of Veritas File System (VxFS).
Resolution
Veritas File System (VxFS) supports fallocate(2) starting from the following releases.
VxFS 5.1SP1RP4
VxFS 6.0.5 and above
VxFS 6.1 and above
Please note that VxFS supports fallocate(2) only on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.0 (and above) and SuSE Linux Enterprise System (SLES) 11 (and above).
Issue/Introduction
fallocate(2) is a Linux-specific system call which allows the caller to directly manipulate the allocated disk space for the specified file. There is also a corresponding user program called fallocate (/usr/bin/fallocate). Please refer to the fallocate(1) and fallocate(2) manual page for details. fallocate(2) is not supported in prevoius versions of Veritas File System (VxFS).
