Mode: Uninstall
Status: FailedVeritas InfoScale for Windows
V-72-9-78 The selected system is either part of a VCS cluster or SFW Microsoft Failover configuration. To uninstall the product, you must remove the system from the configuration.Do the following:
- In case of a VCS cluster, run the VCS Cluster Configuration Wizard (VCW) and remove the node from the cluster.- In case of a SFW configuration, launch the SFW Configuration Wizard for Microsoft Failover Cluster Utility from the Solutions Configuration Center (SCC) and remove the configuration from the system.
In some cases, it may be best to Uninstall the software without removing the node from the existing cluster. Here are a couple of examples:
- The entire cluster is being decommissioned, so the InfoScale/SFW-HA software is being removed from all nodes in the cluster and the software will not be reinstalled.
- The Veritas InfoScale software is being uninstalled/reinstalled to resolve some issue. If the VCW Wizard is run to remove this node prior to uninstall, then run to add it back into the cluster after, this requires significantly more work. If the end result is for the server to be back in the current cluster, then it is best to avoid running the VCW to remove the node.
In cases like these, the following steps can be performed on a server in order to allow it to pass the verification without having to remove the server from the VCS cluster.
Note: It is recommended to backup the registry key and files to a temporary location prior to removal, especially if this node is to be added back into the existing cluster after an uninstall/reinstall. In those cases, this data will be necessary.
1. Prior to beginning, ensure there are no VCS Service Groups running on the server where the software will be installed. If there are, either offline or switch to another available server in the cluster.
2. Open a command prompt (Run as Administrator), and run the following commands:
haconf -dump -makero
hastop -local -force
net stop llt /y
* If the hanconf command returns an error that the cluster is not writeable, it can be safely ignored.

3. Open the Registry Editor (start > run > regedit), and browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Veritas\VCS\base. Right-click > Export to save a backup copy (e.g. vcs_base.reg)
4. Delete the following registry values:
- ClusterGUID
- ClusterName
- ClusterID
- NodeID
5. Change the ClusterNodeMode value data from 2 to 1
6. Once complete, the ..\vcs\base key should look similar to the following:

7. Browse to the following directories, and backup/remove the files:
%vcs_root%\comms\llt\llthosts
%vcs_root%\comms\llt\llttab.txt
%vcs_root%\comms\gab\gabtab.txt
%vcs_home%\conf\config\main.cf
** The default location of these variables are as follows:
%vcs_root% = <drive_letter>:\Program Files\Veritas
%vcs_home% = <drive_letter>:\Program Files\Veritas\Cluster Server
8. Open Windows Services Control Manager (start > run > services.msc) and stop any of the following services that are in a running state, then set them to ‘Disabled’.
- Veritas Cluster Server Helper
- Veritas High availability engine
- Veritas VCSComm Startup
9. Relaunch the Veritas InfoScale / Storage Foundation for Windows HA Uninstall through Programs and Features, and now the verification will pass and the product can be successfully uninstalled.
