Error Message

V-106-58644-289 "Operation invalid as DCM is in use

Cause

The DCM could be in use by a RVG due to any one of the following reasons:

  • Initial automatic synchronization for the data volumes is in progress

  • The Replicator Log overflowed while the protection mode was set to DCM or AutoDCM

Resolution

If the DCM is in use by the RVG due to any of the above reasons, then the "Expand volume" operation as explained in Steps to expand a volume configured for VVR for Windows can be done by:

Option A.

Waiting for the DCM log to drain and VVR to be in Consistent Mode. Then expand the volume using the steps explained in Steps to expand a volume configured for VVR for Windows

Or

Option b.

If the need to expand the volume is urgent, perform the following.

Note: Option b will require a full resync of all volumes/data from primary to secondary.

1. Execute a "Stop Replication" for the RVG that includes the volume to be expanded

2. Expand the volume in Replication Network.

3. Once the expansion is completed via this approach, then do a "Start Replication" operation and select "Synchronize Automatically" option to resync all volumes in the RVG.
