Description

The article helps explain the steps on how to expand a striped volume in Veritas Storage/Infoscale Foundation for Windows

Resolution

When adding disks to the striped volume, the number of additional disks must be equal to a multiple of the number of columns.

For example: If a striped volume that contains 3 columns then it requires the number of additional disks to be added in a multiple of 3, such as 6, 9, or 12 for expansion

To complete the expansion, perform the following steps:

1. Firstly, to determine the number of columns that are contained within a striped volume, in Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA), right-click on the volume -> Select Properties -> The "Columns" displays the number of columns that are contained within the striped volume

2. Add the disks to the same diskgroup as that of existing striped volume in multiples of the value obtained from Step #1

3. Right-click on the volume -> "Resize volume -> Expand" from the striped volume name to complete the expansion activity.
