VCS WARNING V-16-1-10260 Resource does not exist: DiskGroupName

Cause

The error occurs because the RVGPrimary is unable to find the specified VVR RVG. There are a few different different scenarios which can result in this error.

Resolution

The first step of troubleshooting is to launch the Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA) and select "Replication Network' from the drop-down and confirm the VVR configuration is proper (RDS with Primary and one or more secondaries listed)

Note, the VMDg resource must be online in cluster in order to see the VVR data, so ensure the VVR Cluster group, and all resources are online.

If VVR replication is showing properly, then proceed with the 3 possible solutions to this issue provided below:

  1. The VVR RVG name is provided for the  RVGResourceName attribute for the RVGPrimary, but this value needs to be the name of the VvrRvg resource in the cluster, and not the name name of the RVG within the VVR configuration:

  1. This can occur if the VVR Cluster group is in an offline state. This should not occur as the Application Group should depend on the VVR group being online, so verify that dependency exists [online local hard)]:

If the IP, VMDg, and VvrRvg resources are NOT online in the cluster, then the RVGPrimary will fail because the RVG is not available. If this dependency is set properly, this will not occur.

  1. If the VVR cluster group, especially the VvrRVG resource, doesn't exist at all, this group must be configured in order for the RVGPrimary resource to work properly. This is unlikely VVR Cluster Configuration Wizard creates the proper configuration; however, if the RVGPrimary was manually added, or the configuration modified (deletion of resources), it is a possibility this could occur.
