Error Message

V-203-40965-18 - vxio: Volume block : Uncorrectable write error

V-203-40965-37 - vxio: Disk block (mountpoint ): Uncorrectable write error

Cause

The application I/O requests are sent to the storage stack through the VXIO driver .

The vxio.sys is installed when Veritas Infoscale/Storage Foundation is installed.

The time when vxio.sys send the writes to the disk and the disk drivers report a failure, that is when either of the two errors mentioned above are logged.

NOTE: This does not indicate that the cause is vxio.sys but needs investigation at the storage sub-system level to identify why the write request sent by vxio.sys was failed/retried by the disk. .

Resolution

1. Check storage for hardware failures. These components involve MPIO. storport, miniport, HBA drivers.

2. The system event log often contains pertinent messages.

3. Work with storage vendor to resolve any potential issues identified or updates needed.

Issue/Introduction

When using Veritas Infoscale or Storage Foundation, errors are reported with source as VXIO reporting write errors to disks.
