Error Message

The following error may be logged into the MountV_A.log at %VCS_HOME%/log path

Agent(MountV) is exiting because it could not load the agent library(C:\Program Files\Veritas\Cluster Server\bin\MountV\MountV.dll).

The following error may be logged into the VMDg_A.log at %VCS_HOME%/log path

Agent(VMDg) is exiting because it could not load the agent library(C:\Program Files\Veritas\Cluster Server\bin\VMdg\VMdg.dll).

Cause

If the server has a long PATH environment variable, it is possible that it can be truncated when loaded into the service process space.  If the PATH entries for VCS are at the end of the PATH and get truncated, then various components will either fail or behave unexpectedly.

This issue could occur if another software that is installed inserts its entries into the start of the PATH statement.

Resolution

Edit the PATH statement to move the Infoscale for Windows entries to the very beginning.  Particularly these entries:

  • C:\Program Files\Veritas\cluster server\bin
  • C:\Program Files\Veritas\Veritas Volume Manager X.X\bin

Issue/Introduction

In a Veritas Cluster Server (VCS), following a system reboot, the MountV and VMDg agents may fail to load, causing the Service Group to fault.
