Cause

A misconfigured setting in EMC Navisphere will cause extra LUNs to appear in Device Manager. This also results in VEA displaying these disks.

Note: These devices should not been seen by the OS.

Resolution

Within the Group Edit Initiators dialog in EMC Navisphere, a configuration setting called ArrayCommPath needs to be set to "Disabled"'. Please work with the Storage Team or EMC to ensure this attribute is set properly.

Issue/Introduction

DGC LUNZ is an EMC CLARiiON device used for setting up LUNs (disks) for a node/cluster. These devices are not handled by a DSM and one LUN will show for each enabled path for this device. For example, if there are 4 paths to storage, 4 DGC LUNZ disks will show in Device Manager and in VEA. Under normal circumstances, the device cannot be read and shows unknown to the OS and Storage Foundation for Windows (SFW).
