Follow these steps to migrate to Veritas dynamic multipathing (DMP) from another multipathing solution:
1. From Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA), deport all disk groups. If these are cluster disk groups, bring the related cluster service groups offline to deport them.
2. Disable all but one path to the shared storage. This is typically done by disabling one of the HBAs or by disconnecting one of the fibre cables.
Note: In some cases, fibre switches may be connected to each other through inter-switch links (ISL). Additional steps may be necessary to ensure that the there is only one path available to the storage.
3. Uninstall the existing multipathing software. Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer.
4. Reboot the server.
5. If installing the Veritas Dynamic Multipathing solution and Storage Foundation for Windows has been installed on the server, then open the Windows Control Panel > Add / Remove Programs (or Programs & Features in Windows 2008.)
6. Look for the Storage Foundation for Windows (server components) entry and select CHANGE.
7. When the wizard comes up, make sure there is a dot next to Add / Remove Options and click NEXT.
8. On the OPTIONS screen, place a checkmark next to the Dynamic Multipathing option (on SFW 5.1 SP1 or great, open the plus sign next to Storage Foundation Options in order to see the checkbox for Dynamic Multipathing.)
9. After checking off the option for DMP, click next and complete the wizard.
6. Reboot the server.
7. Enable the paths that were disabled in Step 1.
If SFW's DMP software is to be removed and another vendor's DMP solution is to used, then perform these steps in reverse order (removing the checkmark for the DMP option in SFW), and then reboot. After that, install the third party DMP solution per that vendor's specifications.
