SFWHA and SEP 11.0 with MR1, MR3, or MR4 client blocks ICMP traffic which disables VCS.
Note: This issue does not occur with SEP 11 MR2
Workaround:
Create a custom rule in SEP in order to allow ICMP to flow.
For that, add a blank rule in the Firewall policy, double-click on the service field and set the following:
Protocol=Ethernet, Protocol Type= 0xCAFE
