Resolution
This is typically caused by the disks being brought into an Online status through Windows, prior to the install of SFW 5.1.
In order to correct the situation, follow these steps:
1) Open the MSFC GUI.
2) Highlight the Storage option.
3) All Basic Disks should be displayed here in an Online state.
4) Right click on each disk and select 'Offline Resource'. ****Note::: If there are any disks currently in use by the cluster (such as the Quorum disk), DO NOT bring those disks offline. Only the disks listed under the 'Available Storage' header should be brought offline.
5) The disks should now be Offline. Right click on each one and select Delete in order to remove them from cluster control.
6) Go back into VEA and right click on the Storage Agent header.
7) Select Re-scan.
8) The disks should show with an icon of a blue 'i' and show as Offline. Right click on each disk within VEA (under the 'Disk' header) and select the option for 'Online Disk'
These disks should now be accessible to SFW control and can be added into the Dynamic Disk Group as needed.
Issue/Introduction
After installing Veritas Storage Foundation 5.1 for Windows (SFW) into a Microsoft Failover Cluster (MSFC) environment, the LUNs are located in the Basic Disk Group, but all attempts to create a new Dynamic Disk Group and convert these disks fail and the disks do not appear as accessible.
