Host and node name expansion on HP-UX

The HP-UX Nodeand Host Name Expansion feature is supported on Veritas products.

ForHP-UX 11iv2 install the NodeHostNameXpnd product bundle to enable thisfeature.

This product bundle enables the capability to create node andhost names of up to 255 bytes.

Installation of this product bundle doesnot automatically activate 255 byte length support for node and host names.

The default OS configuration will still be 8 bytes for node names and 64bytes for host names.

You must enable a dynamic kernel tunableparameter, expanded_node_host_names, using the following kctune commandto allow the use of larger names on the system:

/usr/sbin/kctune expanded_node_host_names=1

For HP-UX 11iv3, no separate package needs tobe installed for enabling the expanded node and hostname.

However, thedefaults still remain 8 bytes for node name and 64 bytes for host names. Toenable node and host names to be expanded, run the above kctunecommand.
