Description

Error Message

n/a

Cause

Unable to create a complete new VMDG resource in MSCS clustering service groups.
Wizard starts but does not show the Disk Group you want to add in the drop down on the Volume Manager Disk Group Parameters screen.

This scenario is possible if either of the prerequisites are not met.

Resolution

Please confirm that the disk group you are trying to import is a "Cluster Dynamic Disk Group" but not a "Secondary Dynamic Disk Group". Refer to the Administrator's Guide Chapter 5 for more details

Please make sure the Cluster Dynamic Disk Group you want to add is imported. If it is imported on NodeA, please confirm that the target Cluster Group is owned by the same node that has the disk group imported. Even if your Cluster Group was newly created, is empty or offline, it would still have an owner.

Once these things have been confirmed and you are still not able to see the Cluster Disk Group, please refer to the related documents section for details on how to register Storage Foundation for Windows resource types in the Microsoft Cluster environment.

Note:

If the following message is received while trying to unregister the vxresext.dll

System error 193 has occurred (0x000000c1)

Error 0x583 formatting string for error code 0xc1

Using the err utility from Microsoft:

C:\Err>err 000000c1

# for hex 0xc1 / decimal 193 :

  ERROR_BAD_EXE_FORMAT                                          winerror.h

# %1 is not a valid Win32 application.

It may be necessary to:
- Ensure the MSCS option is installed and properly licensed

Or

- un-register the DLL's and re-register them.
