Cause
From the Hardware Compatability List (HCL) the xp24k array supports thin reclamation:
"Thin Reclamation is supported with this array; the minimum array firmware 60.06.05-00 is required."
The firmware of the array is also the latest.
The Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) lists Storage Foundation version "5.1, 5.1PR1, 5.1 SP1", the currently used version 5.1RP1 is not mentioned.
Resolution
Install SF 5.1SP1 instead of 5.1RP1 , the "PHYS_ALLOC" can be correctly displayed.

"vxdisk -o thin list" command reports "N/A" for "PHYS_ALLOC" column on XP24k disk array
The correct output should report real physical allocated space for that LUN on the array.
