run the command below to check the status of vxsvcctrl

# /opt/VRTS/bin/vxsvcctrl status
Current state of server : RUNNING
 

If it is running, stop it by running the command below

# /opt/VRTS/bin/vxsvcctrl stop
...VEA Server was shutdown successfully
 

check the status again:

# /opt/VRTS/bin/vxsvcctrl status
Current state of server : NOT RUNNING
 

Run the installer -precheck command again.  This time it will not give the error

Veritas Storage Foundation version installed is 5.0MP3

lslpp -l VRTSvlic command output shows the package is installed with the state "COMMITTED"
