Description
Error Message
V-76-58645-175 Disk is marked in-use by another NT node
Cause
To prevent multiple servers from simultaneously importing the same disk group, Storage Foundation for Windows (SFW) writes a host ID to the disks as they are imported. In some cases, this host ID may remain after the disk group is no longer imported. In this case, when the disk group is imported onto a new server, it would report this error.
The other possible cause can be that the disks in the DG attempted for import are snapshot disks obtained using EMCTimeFinder or any other Snapshot technology.
During the snapshot process these softwares retain the original host ID on the disks and hence when attempting to import these snapshot disks on a new server would report the Host ID of the server where the snapshot was originally taken.
Resolution
When importing the disk group from Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA), select"Clear Host ID."
When importing via CLI with vxdg, use the "-C"switch.
