V-76-58645-585 Unable to reserve the majority of disks

Cause

This message appears when the server is unable to place a SCSI lock on the majority of the disks in the Diskgroup.
 
Possible causes of this message include:
  • Another server may have placed a SCSI reservation on the disks, preventing them from being imported on current node
  • The disks are no longer available/missing from the current node

Solution

Attempt to resolve the issue with one of the following:

  1. Use the SCSIcmd utility to query the disk for any existing SCSI reservations
  2. Attempt to reserve the disks using the SCSIcmd utility to verify if they support SCSI reservations
  3. Check Veritas Enterprise Administrator to determine if the disks are reported as Missing, Foreign, or Unknown

Resolution

Attempt to resolve the issue with one of the following:

  1. Use the SCSIcmd utility to query the disk for any existing SCSI reservations
  2. Attempt to reserve the disks using the SCSIcmd utility to verify if they support SCSI reservations
  3. Check Veritas Enterprise Administrator to determine if the disks are reported as Missing, Foreign, or Unknown
