1. Make the CMS the same, or higher, version (pre-VOM 7.0)

Note: Versions 6, and above, are supported at the time of this writing.

• Older versions of the CMS installer can be downloaded as follows:
• Browse to: https://www.veritas.com/content/trial/en/us/veritas-infoscale-operations-manager.html
• Complete the contact information on the right side (Figure 1)
• Download "Management Server 6.1 package" for correct platform (including add-ons suggested)

2. Make the version of each MH the same as the CS (7.0)

• These packages can be downloaded as follows:
• Browse to: https://www.veritas.com/content/trial/en/us/veritas-infoscale-operations-manager.html
• Complete the contact information on the right side (Figure 1)
• Download the "Managed Host 7.0 Bundle" ("Description" Optional)
• Use the desired method to add the MH to the domain

NOTE for Unix:
If the file /etc/default/sfm_resolv.conf is not present, empty or contains "[domains]"  (and nothing else) then the older version of the Operation System (OS) package may be removed using typical OS commands, then the 7.x version of the package may be installed.

A new installation of a 7.x, and higher, CMS uses 2048 bit certificates while version 6.x, and lower, use1024 bit certificates.

An in-place upgrade of CMS to 7.0 will continue to communicate to MH versions 6.1, and below.

There are two things that can be done to resolve this issue.

1. Make the CMS the same, or higher, version (pre-VOM 7.0)
2. Make the version of each MH the same as the CMS (7.0)

The solutions to these options are below:

An error message is encountered when adding a  Managed Host (MH) version 6.1, or below, to a new installation of a version 7.x, and above  Central management Server  (CMS). This error is seen when the following conditions are true:

• New installation of VOM 7.0 CS (not an in-place upgrade)
• MH version is 6.1, or lower

Depending on different factors, the error message varies. The issue is that only a version 7.x, and above MH, can be added to a 7.x, and above, CMS. Like versions are recommended. An in-place upgrade of CMS, to 7.0, will continue to communicate to MH versions 6.1, and below.

While it is possible that the error may reflect a different condition, if the version issue above is true, it must be corrected first.
