Error Message

There are no error messages reported but the server enters a reboot loop.

Cause

The issue occurs if Microsoft Update KB3033929 is not installed prior to the installation.

The welcome page for the InfoScale product installation lists Microsoft Update KB3033929 as a requirement. If this patch is not present, the product will appear to install successfully, but the server will be unable to reboot.

Veritas InfoScale 7.x release has been enhanced to use drivers that are signed with SHA-256 certificates. This Microsoft patch is required to recognize the certificates correctly.

Resolution

The below steps can be followed to recover the server from the reboot loop.

  1. Disable driver signature enforcement. This is typically done by pressing the F8 key during the boot process, and selecting Disable driver signature enforcement.
  2. Uninstall InfoScale.
  3. Install Microsoft Update KB3033929.
  4. Ensure all the prerequisites for Veritas InfoScale 7.1 are met before reinstalling it.

Note: Microsoft Update KB3033929 will not install on the initial release of Windows 2008 R2. Please upgrade your server to Service Pack 1 before installing this patch.
