[/mnt1]fsdedupadm enable /mnt1UX:vxfs fsdedupadm: ERROR: V-3-20000: Dedup is not supported on non VxVM devices.
Cause
VxFS deduplication is a feature that is only available for customers to optimize the use of file system storage through the elimination of redundant data by sharing blocks of identical data. This feature is currently only available for use when VxVM volumes are implemented as the underlying device. Attempting to run VxFS deduplication utilities with the fsdedupadm command, on a non-VxVM device, generates the following error:
ERROR: V-3-20000: Deduplication is not supported on non VxVM devices
Resolution
Customers are encouraged to use VxVM volumes to take advantage of VxFS deduplication.
