Resolution
Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) expects disks intended for shared access in a Clustered Volume Manager (CVM) environment to be initialized in the Cross Platform Data Sharing (CDS) cdsdisk format. On HP-UX, disks that have been earlier initialized in the hpdisk format should be converted into cdsdisk format prior to use in a shared CVM cluster. Please see the administrator’s guide for VxVM and man page vxcdsconvert(1M)” for details on how to use the vxcdsconvert utility to accomplish the conversion.
At this time, the hpdisk format has not been tested rigorously and therefore is not certified in a CVM environment. Customers are encouraged to migrate to the cdsdisk format to ensure certified configurations in a CVM cluster.
