At times, at the time of a resource fault in VCS, the error V-16-1-10307 is reported in engine log and also in the Veritas Cluster Java Console

Error

Resource %s (Owner: %s, Group: %s) is offline on %s (Not initiated by VCS)

The specified resource has unexpectedly gone offline on the system. VCS did not initiate the offline.

Cause

The error indicates that an external entity caused the resource to go offline unexpectedly outside VCS Control. During the monitor cycle for that agent, VCS identified that it went offline abruptly and hence faulted the resource with the tag (Not initiated by VCS) to avoid any corruption.

Solution

Determine the reason for the resource going offline. This may result in group fault; therefore, necessary action must be taken.

• Check application logs corresponding to the faulted resource.

• Check system logs for any suspicious activity.

• Check all user activity.

• Check if any application core is generated, analyze accordingly.
