Cause

This is caused by an incident in Veritas File System 6.0.5.   

Resolution

Please upgrade to Veritas File System 6.1 or above and upgrade the disk layout version of the file system to 10 or above to fix the issue.

 

Issue/Introduction

This problem only occurs in Veritas File System version 6.0.5 or below. (Starting from Veritas File System 6.1, the maximum number of links of a directory of file becomes unlimited and is not affected by the problem.) When a subdirectory of a directory reached the maximum number of links, the directory wll become inaccessible. The default maximum number of links is 32767 and can be tuned to 65535 with the kernel parameter vx_maxlink. (Please see Article 100033962 for details.
