2019/10/27 06:30:09 VCS ERROR V-16-2-13066 (MIN_MD_DBSVR2) Agent is calling clean for resource(SQLFilestream-MESINS) because the resource is not up even after online completed.

SQLFileStream_A.log :

VCS ERROR V-16-20070-406 SQLFilestream:"instance name" :monitor:SQLFilestream Resource will be in UNKNOWN [Actual :Offline] State : Filestream Fileshare exists even filestream is disabled

Diagnostic Steps:

Identified SQLFilestream resource fails to get probe on Node 2 of a 2 Node GCO cluster 

Due to probe failure SQL Service Group fails to come online or doesn't gets failover to other/Passive node and gives error

Cause

When the VCS Filestream resource is taken offline, the respective FILESTREAM fileshares on the node are also deleted. If the agent is unable to delete the fileshares the VCS Filestream resource goes in to an unknown state. 

Resolution

Need to delete the shares manually and recreate the resource.

To create the shares need to follow below steps

  1. Go to Computer Management using 'Windows+R' keys and type in: compmgmt.msc
  2. Select 'Shared Folders' from the left panel of the console.
  3. Select the name of the 'Shares' which needs to be removed/deleted/stopped from sharing.
  4. After the share has been selected right click select 'Stop Sharing' and click on 'Yes' once prompted.
