Error Message

The system console continuously reported the following entries: "INIT: failed write of utmp entry".

No definitive cause was found. 

Veritas Technical Support set up the same configuration whereby rootvg was placed on SAN LUNs, each multipathed with DMP. A test was run to mimic the SAN director maintenance that the customer had performed. This involved disabling one of the fibre-channel HBAs. No impact was seen to rootvg and IO continued without issue. The customer repeated the same operation with Volume Manager at 7.4.1.1201 and found no issue. The 1201 patch was recommended since it included an enhancement to DMP-rootvg support.
