Cause

After installing Volume Manager 7.4.1, some considerable space was found to be used by files in /opt/VRTSvxvm/debuginfo. These files are present to aid Veritas Support if ever needing to obtain diagnostic output, such as crash, threadlists, SystemTap, etc.

Below is a list of such files:

Resolution

Note that these diagnostic kernel modules files are for various operating system releases, e.g.

vxdmp.ko.3.10.0-862.el7.x86_64.debug (for OS with RHEL 7.5)

vxdmp.ko.3.10.0-957.el7.x86_64.debug (for OS with RHEL 7.6)

Such files can be removed to free up space, but it is suggested that only those from an earlier release are removed.

It should be noted that Volume Manager upgrades will reinstate the files and an upgrade will error that the removed files don't exist, but this should not affect the upgrade.
