Description

A split brain condition might occur in an InfoScale cluster when the Network Properties plugin is accessed on a Windows2016&2019 system.

You might encounter this issue if you follow this sequence of actions:

  1. Ensure that LLT is configured over ethernet in your InfoScale cluster.
  2. Restart all the nodes in the cluster.
  3. After the nodes are up, log on to any node, and click Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Ethernet.
  4. A split brain condition occurs in the cluster for a few seconds. Thereafter, the connection is restored automatically.

Note the following context for this issue:

  • The issue is applicable to all versions of InfoScale so far.
  • LLT is configured over ethernet in an InfoScale cluster.
  • After the split brain condition occurs, it lasts only for few seconds, after which the network connectivity is restored automatically.
  • The issue occurs only once after a node is restarted, and it does not recur even if you perform sequence of actions again.

Workaround

To avoid encountering this issue, you may choose to click Start > Control Pannel >Network and Internet>Network and Sharing CenterChange Network Settings when you want to view or change the network properties on an InfoScale cluster node.
