V-21-1-61 or V-21-3-1003: reported when running vxlicrep.exe command for Infoscale 7.x series for Windows

Error Message

The following error message is reported : 

Error V-21-1-61 Initialization failed: License key directory not found, Please install  VRTSvlic package

 
 
it may also report an error as ERROR V-21-3-1003 There are no valid VERITAS License keys installed in the system.
 

Cause

A valid license key is not installed for current version of Infoscale installation. .

 

Resolution

1 Obtain a valid license for the installed version of Infoscale.

The license can be downloaded by logging into https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US with a registered user and selecting the "Licensing" tab for downloading the license. 

The downloaded file should be in .slf format. 

 

2. Browse to the path "\ProgramFiles\VRTSsfmh\bin" and Install the license using command

vxlicinstupgrade.exe -k
 
Eg: For an slf file downloaded to the desktop, the command would be as below, 
 
C:\Program Files\Veritas\VRTSsfmh\bin>vxlicinstupgrade.exe -k "C:\Desktop\<.slf file>
 
 
3. For the license install to take effect, restart the Veritas Enterprise Administrator service.(vxsvc)

   a. net stop vxsvc
   b. net start vxsvc 
 
NOTE: Please practice caution when restarting vxsvc service in production environment wherein only Infoscale Storage is installed. 
 
 
4. Run the command :vxlicrep" once again to confirm it can now list the valid license and its details. 
 
 

Issue/Introduction

For Infoscale 7.x series for Windows, when attempting to gather license details by running the vxlicrep.exe command, it fails to populate the license information and reports an error.
