Cause
A memory leak was suspected and investigated through valgrind and coverity, but no issues were found in vxconfigd.
The trend of RSS increase is seen for daemon processes outside VxVM components as well. This issue is seen only with latest Linux flavors i.e. RHEL/SLES.
Issue is not observed on Unix platforms (Solaris/ AIX) .
Resolution
Restart vxconfigd will release RSS.
# vxconfigd -k
Issue/Introduction
When using InfoScale 7.4.1 / 7.4.2 / 7.4.3 / 8.0 in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 environment, the RSS increase of vxconfigd is observed by executing the vx commands.
