vxlist command does not give proper output and throw message like 'Cannot connect to vxconfigd on host' or 'VxVM DCLI vxlist ERROR V-50-49971-377 timeout'

DESCRIPTION:

On InfoScale server having VxVM version 7.3.1.3109 & 7.4.1.3408 and VRTSsfmh version 7.4.2, you may see that vxlist does not work. In this case, manually upgrade VRTSsfmh package to 7.4.2.603

RESOLUTION:

New dclid plugin compatible with VxVM 7.3.1.3109 & 7.4.1.3408 is present in VRTSsfmh package.

The “libvxlistsf_s.so” library needs to be updated and copied to the respective location /opt/VRTSsfmh/plugins/vxlist/server/***/libvxlistsf_s.so for the Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) version.

The "deploy_vxdclid_plugin.pl" utility can be used where Veritas InfoScale Operations Manager (VIOM) is installed & configured in the environment.

Traditionally for environments where customers are not using VIOM i.e. the CMS package (VRTSsfmcs) will not be installed.

The VRTSsfmcs package provides the GUI service for the Central Management Server (CMS).

The "deploy_vxdclid_plugin.pl" utility will be unable to deploy the updated "libvxlistsf_s.so" library to /opt/VRTSsfmh/plugins/vxlist/server/***/libvxlistsf_s.so, forcing users to manually replace the plugin on each impacted node.

In an effort to reduce the manual overhead of updating the "libvxlistsf_s.so" libraries. The VIOM team have released updated VRTSsfmh rpms for NON-VIOM environments where customers still want to benefit from the "vxlist" CLI functionality.

Caution should be observed when patching VIOM related environments.

The "vxlist" command provided via the VRTSsfmh package is generating multiple core files for vxdclid. The "vxlist" command reports the following "VxVM DCLI vxlist ERROR V-50-49971-377 timeout." error.
