CPI ERROR V-9-0-0 The higher version of VRTSvxvm(7.4.2.3800) is already installed on the cluster nodes

Can happen with any packages, the above are just 2 examples.

Cause

Not all patches are cumulative and will contain other patches that may be lower or higher than a previously installed patch. The CPI installer has a check to verify which patches are already installed. If you choose the Rolling Upgrade option when using the patch installer, the CPI patch will error out and not let you continue patching if the patch contains lower versions than what is installed.

Resolution

When running the installer, select the Full Upgrade option instead of the Rolling Upgrade option. This will allow the CPI installer to skip the installed patches that are already higher on the system and install the missing patches as needed.

Issue/Introduction

When installing a new patch using the installer, the CPI installer errors out and stops the installation of the patch due to detecting higher versions of the included patches already installed.
