Error Message

Import fails with an error based on the symptom..

Error V-76-58645-182 INTERNAL Error – Dynamic disk group has no valid configuration copies

Cause

This issue can occur when a Dynamic Multi Pathing (DMP) solution is not installed or partially installed.

Resolution

Check the following:

1. Ensure that the MultiPath I/O feature of Windows Server is installed.  This is done in Server Manager > Add Roles and Features.  A reboot will be needed when this feature is installed.

2. Ensure that the proper Device Specific Module (DSM) is installed for the DMP solution being used.  A reboot is typically needed when a DSM is installed.

Issue/Introduction

For Infoscale Storage/Enterprise for Windows, when attempting to import a Diskgroup (DG) in Veritas Enterprise Administrator (VEA), the import for the DG fails. The known symptoms include: 1) The Dynamic disk group has no valid configuration copies (as shown in the error below). 2) Harddisks in the diskgroup are in the UnknownDG. 3) Harddisks become write protected when trying to import the diskgroup. 4) Import of diskgroup causes unexpected disks to move to the UnknownDG. 5) Diskgroup is configured with a specific number of disks. However, the disk list in VEA shows many more disks belonging to the diskgroup. This is usually a multiple of the disks in the diskgroup.
