Error Message

Sometimes an error will be returned when executing "vxdmpadm exclude dmpnodename=". NOTE: there might not be any errors when running this command.

[root@server101 ~]# vxdmpadm exclude dmpnodename=ibm_shark0_0

VxVM vxdctl ERROR V-5-1-1589 enable failed: Error in disk group configuration copies
 

To confirm if this issue is happening, you can check the path entries in the directory "/dev/vx/.dmp". All path entries in this directory should be unique. If this issue occurs, then disk paths will point to the same device.

A variable within Veritas code that is used to keep track of hardware paths was not being initialized properly. As a result, all of the paths are set the same. 

This is resolved with the patch infoscale-rhel8_x86_64-Patch-7.4.2.4900

Excluding a disk from VxVM in RHEL8 can cause all disks to be excluded. The issue occurs on RHEL8 systems with VRTSvxvm-7.4.2.4600.
