Error Message

The Engine_A.log and the MountV_A.log from %VCS_HOME%/logs would report the below error:

VCS WARNING V-16-10051-9020 MountV::online: is not suitable for folder mount

Cause

The issue occurs if the folder path specified as the mount point, contains data. When attempting to online the mount point, the system recognizes that the folder is not empty and therefore cannot be used as a mount point.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

  1. Identify the folder specified as the mount point from the error message.
  2. Ensure that the folder is empty. If there are any files or directories within the folder, move them to a different location or delete them.
  3. Once the folder is empty, attempt to mount the specified mount point by onlining the corresponding MountV resource in VCS.
  4. Post successful online, verify that the contents of the mount point are accessible from Windows Explorer.

Issue/Introduction

For a Service Group (SG) in Veritas Cluster Server (VCS), when attempting to online a SG or switching it to another node, the mount point at times may fail with an error.
