Veritas Engineering has released Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) Private hotfix 8.0.0.2802 to resolve handling defect for invalid device symbolic links created under /, instead of /dev/vx/.dmp.

SYMPTOM:
VxVM created invalid device symbolic links under root which isn't expected.

DESCRIPTION:
Volume manager creates invalid device symbolic links by mistake under root.
RESOLUTION:
The code has been made to create device symbolic links in /dev/vx/.dmp.

A supported hotfix has been made available for this issue. Please contact Technical Support to obtain this fix. This hotfix has not yet gone through any extensive Q&A testing. Consequently, if you are not adversely affected by this problem and have a satisfactory temporary workaround in place, we recommend that you wait for the public release of this hotfix.
Only Linux platforms are impacted. Only InfoScale 8.0.0 is impacted. The issue does not impact InfoScale 7.4.2 or 8.0.2 product releases.
